Clandestine

.

They visited from the other side
in dark nights when the lanterns waned,
the rain dripped from the rooftops
and the drugsharks
swam with the breathgrasping ghosts
kick-searching in tenebrous alleys.

The deep rumbles
of clandestine love
reproducing
under the shallow viaduct

The spectres
of other lives
esuriently grasping
surreptitious mileage
spurning the spirits
desorbing from rotten walls
dwindling into the morning fog
